The Fabric of Friendship
|
I just don't get it. When a friendship ends and nobody is to blame, wouldn't it be a lot easier to understand if one of the parties committed a crime, responded to you or if she said something incredibly stupid?
The fabric of friendship calls for equality, respect, a caring and loving attitude, generous praise, encouragement and several other happy thoughts shared among two people. Of course, it can often be too easy for us to forget these friends, leaving them high and dry. One must realize our daily life demands can add why friendships may be ghosted; commitment to family, interfering travel plans, health problems and the simple daily agenda may interfere with one-on-one time with a beloved friend.
Friends who meant something in the past may no longer figure into current plans. People change. You probably realize that not all friendships are created equal. Some are formed because of proximity in the geographic area one lives in. Some are found out of convenience and are superficial. A third type or cosmetic friendship will exist when one sees value in another person; once their value diminishes, the friendship disappears.
However, it appears durable friendships are a gift of maturity and include the extraordinary friends we can count on, the ones who lift our spirits and who care for us during troublesome times. Perhaps the best decision to make is to have a few reliable friends rather than several acquaintances.
Yes, we do get different things from different friends! It turns out there are 8 types of “vital friends.” Many of us don’t have all of them in our squad. So, when you join us at this table talks session, we’ll look at the kinds of friends there are, learn where you might meet the ones that are missing, and find out how to strengthen your relationships with known friends.
